Congratulations!  Hollis Grade School has earned an Academic Excellence Award!  The Illinois State Board of Education commends us all on all the good work required to sustain academic excellence in our school.  This is the 4th year in a row that Hollis Grade School has earned an Academic Excellence Award!

Across the state, 454 schools earned the Academic Excellence Award for 2012.  Many of these schools receive national recognition for their long-time exemplary performance.

To earn an Academic Excellence Award, a PK-8 school must have made Adequate Yearly Progress in 2011 and 2012 as required by No Child Left Behind and 90 percent of the students meet or exceeded state standards in both reading and mathematics for at least three most recent school years.

At http://www.ilhonorroll.niu.edu/scripts/main.asp?awtype=E you can learn more about the Illinois Honor Roll and find a page devoted to Hollis Grade School.  Also you will find the criteria for the awards and a full list of awards winner.

2012 SchoolSearch Bright A+ Award Recipient

It is with great honor that Mrs. Meinhold announces to the Hollis families that Hollis Consolidated School District #328 has earned the SchoolSearch 2012 Bright A+ Award for academic excellence in education. Hollis is one of only 59 Illinois School Districts (out of 868 school districts) honored with the SchoolSearch 2012 Bright A+ Award. SchoolSearch awards school districts that are among the top 5% of Illinois school districts (academically) based on the 2011 IL School Report Card Data Source. Illinois Elementary and Unit Districts, with a percentage of 95.30 or above on ISAT (Illinois Standards Achievement Test), qualified for this award. Other area elementary school districts that qualified are: Dunlap, Germantown Hills, and Morton. The SchoolSearch Bright A+ Award list is especially useful to families looking for a school district with a rigorous academic environment.
